For me, the most challenging aspect of my Logo Design was coming up with a symbol that fully represented the group. In order to overcome this challenge, I had to try out multiple designs, and this required a lot of time spent playing with different fonts, colors, and tools. I think the most successful aspect of the logo design was the decision to switch from an acoustic to an electric guitar. The electric guitar did a better job representing the "rock" theme and overall, made for a better depiction of the club.

Books & Book Covers
Here are two of my favorite books and the covers on the versions that I, personally, read. A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess was a book that I'd always had at home and though it was a while before I picked it up and started reading it, the bright orange color and large, stark-white words always stood out to me. The way the letters are at such an extreme slant is also unusual, and because it's quite a simple cover, a lot of what it is about, is left to the imagination. Though it is simple, I think it's successfully done and an attention-grabber because of the color and the boldly stated title.
The other book, 1984, by George Orwell was one that I read in sophomore year for school. It soon became one of my favorites, but I remember noticing the cover before even opening it up. I believe it's an eye, with nothing but white around it, and it relates to the book because in it, the society is being surveilled constantly. Maybe the eye represents the idea of being watched. The title is neatly placed in the pupil of the eye, and the color of the text there is red, which contrasts with the dark color surrounding it; it also serves to differentiate it from the author's name.

Mid-Winter Break
Among days of just relaxing and waking up late, one of the things I did this break was go to see a few bands play one day. There are spaces that will allow high schoolers - or people of any age - to set up and play music and my friend and I went to see another friend play a few different songs.

It's always interesting to see people composing their own music and watching as a group develops. I'd love to be able to fully play an instrument and come up with lyrics myself one day.
